Commissioner's update for correctional employees: April 7, 2025

This content is a message to Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff from CSC's Commissioner.

Our mission: The Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.

Our core values: Respect, fairness, professionalism, inclusiveness, and accountability.

World Health Day

Today is World Health Day. This year’s theme is: “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”. It emphasizes the health of mothers and babies as the foundation of healthy families and communities, helping to ensure a hopeful future for all of us.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank our Health Services staff for their ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally relevant, and safe healthcare to the individuals in our care and custody.

Recent Commissioner’s Directive updates

You may have seen on your computer's lock screen and in the This Week at CSC information about updates to some Commissioner's Directives. I want to remind you that a few Directives have been updated since the start of 2025.

It is important that we use the latest guidelines and policies to guide the work that we do. I encourage you to take a moment to review the recent changes and see if any of them may impact your day-to-day work routine.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support, commitment and dedication.
