Commissioner's update for offenders and their families: April 8, 2024

This content is a message to federal offenders and their families from Correctional Service Canada's (CSC's) Commissioner.

I would like to wish a happy, peaceful and blessed Eid al-Fitr this week to all Muslims. This important holiday will mark the end of the month of Ramadan, a spiritual journey of reflection. Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating.

March 31 was National Indigenous Languages Day, an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada to recognize and celebrate the very rich and diverse heritage of Indigenous languages, identities and cultures. Languages are deeply personal. I strongly believe that they connect individuals, families and communities across generations, distances, and differences.

Lastly, April 7 was World Health Day. It serves as an opportunity to remind us of the importance of taking care of our health and well-being. If you need support or health care, please know that CSC’s health services professionals are available at all institutions. You can access these resources by submitting a request for services or talking to a staff member. Please do not hesitate to reach out for services.
