Commissioner's update for or offenders and their families: January 12, 2026

This content is a message to federal offenders and their families from Correctional Service Canada's (CSC's) Commissioner.

As I mentioned in my last message, I am pleased to share with you some of the artwork submitted for my Holiday cards. Once again, I would like to thank those who contributed to these inspiring pieces.

Do you want to creatively show your talent to thank a volunteer? CSC’s 4th edition of the Volunteer Appreciation Gallery is your chance to showcase your art or poetry and share the positive impact volunteers have had in your life. Your submission could be featured on CSC’s website during National Volunteer Week in April 2026. To participate, I encourage you to speak with your Social Program Officer. The submission deadline is February 28, 2026.

If you are looking at ways to stay connected with your family, the Canadian Families and Corrections Network provides support that can help foster your family relationships. This includes letter-writing kits to communicate with your family and “Let’s Read a Book” to help strengthen bonding with your children through books. They also offer services that are focused on resiliency, and a Dad HERO program for fathers. Please talk to your Social Program Officer or anyone from your case management team for more information on how to get started.
