Atlantic Institution

Atlantic Institution is a maximum security facility located in the rural community of Renous, New Brunswick, 30 kilometres from the city of Miramichi, New Brunswick and 10 kilometres from the Village of Blackville, New Brunswick.

Atlantic Institution opened in 1987 as a maximum security facility. Atlantic Institution is situated on land previously under the control of the Department of National Defense and operated as an ammunition depot.

Atlantic Institution is a standalone men's maximum security facility based on a triangular design model with direct observation cell ranges for older constructed units and reduced movement out of the unit for newly constructed units.
