Springhill Institution is a medium-security facility for men. It is a standalone institution consisting of direct observation cell ranges and a responsibility-based, small-group living environment.
Springhill Institution is located on the southwestern edge of Springhill, Nova Scotia. It is approximately 95 kilometres from Moncton, New Brunswick.
Springhill Institution opened in 1967 and it became a central part of the community following the terrible coal mine disaster of 1958.
