Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy 2017-2018
Although CSC is not legally bound by the Federal Sustainable Development Act (FSDA) and therefore is not required to develop a departmental Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS), CSC has implemented its own Sustainable Development Strategy for the 2015-2018 period. CSC's SDS 2015-2018 contains 40 targets specific for each institution/complex.
The eight targets that were achieved in 2017-2018 include the following:
- Replace all masts and fence lights with LEDs at Atlantic Institution (Target 1.3)
- Implement a renewable energy project at the Federal Training Centre (Target 1.9)
- Install motion detection sensors and LED lighting in the tunnels at Millhaven Institution (Target 1.12)
- Replace all street lighting with LEDs at Stony Mountain Institution (Target 1.19)
- Convert existing lighting systems to LEDs at William Head Institution (Target 1.27)
- Replace all road lighting to LEDs at Matsqui Institution (Target 1.30)
- Replace all road and parking lot lighting to LEDs at Pacific Institution (Target 1.32)
- Reforest the access road at Donnacona Institution (Target 2.2)
During implementation of the SDS 2015-2018, 24 targets have been met, eight have been partially achieved and eight targets have not been met. Targets which were not achieved will be implemented in the future.
