Death of an inmate at Mountain Institution

December 14, 2015 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On December 13, 2015, James Edward Rogers, an inmate at Mountain Institution died at a local hospital in Abbotsford.

At the time of his death, Mr. Rogers, 62 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence, since June 5, 1984, for first degree murder and aggravated assault.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
