Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution

December 29, 2015 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada
On December 26, 2015, Gurwinder Singh Mann, an inmate at Pacific Institution was found unresponsive in the institutional hospital in Abbotsford.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. Mann, 39 years old, had been serving a life sentence first degree murder since May 31, 2003.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
