Death of an inmate at Archambault Institution – Medium security unit

January 27, 2016 – Laval, Québec – Correctional Service Canada

On January 26, 2016, Donald Francoeur, an inmate at Archambault Institution, died at the institutional hospital in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines.

At the time of his death, Mr. Francoeur, 56 years old, had been serving since May 27, 2008, a sentence of 9 years, 2 months and 4 days for various offences against property, Thefts, Breaking and Entering.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
