Lockdown at Warkworth Institution

January 6, 2016 – Warkworth, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On January 5, 2016, at about 1:00 p.m., a lockdown was put in place at Warkworth Institution, a medium-security federal institution, as a precautionary measure after some inmates showed symptoms associated with a respiratory illness.

The Correctional Service of Canada is working with health authorities in order to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

Regularly scheduled visits may be affected. Visitors who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the institution directly.
