Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution

February 26, 2016 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On February 25, 2016, William Ryan Fisher, an inmate at Pacific Institution, died at a local hospital in New Westminster.

At the time of his death, Mr. Fisher, 30 years old, had been serving a three year sentence since February 19, 2016 for Take Part in Riot, Disguising Face with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, Mischief, Assault, Aggravated Assault and Break and Enter, Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident and Breach of Recognizance.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
