Recapture of inmate from Archambault Institution - Medium security unit

March 9, 2016 – Laval, Quebec – Correctional Service Canada

At approximately 10 a.m. on March 9, 2016, inmate Sylvain Lauzon was apprehended by the Service de police de Montréal (SPVM).

This inmate had been unlawfully at large from the medium security unit at Archambault Institution, in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, since March 1, 2016.

CSC would like to thank the SPVM for their efforts in recapturing the offender.

CSC immediately began reviewing the circumstances surrounding this escape and has already taken measures to address safety and security issues stemming from this incident.‎ CSC will continue its investigation and is committed to addressing any further issues that may be identified as part of this process.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
