Recapture of inmate from Joyceville Institution - Minimum-security unit

June 9, 2016 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on June 9, 2016, inmate Roger Strome was apprehended by the the Ontario Provincial Police.

This inmate had been unlawfully at large from the minimum-security unit at Joyceville Institution since June 8, 2016.

CSC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
