Death of an inmate at Kent Institution

August 24, 2016 – Agassiz, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On August 22, 2016, Parker Matthias, an inmate at Kent Institution died at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in Abbotsford.

At the time of his death, Mr. Matthias, 59 years old, had been serving a sentence of 6 years, 9 months, since March 5, 2010 for Manslaughter.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
