Death of an inmate at Joyceville Institution - Minimum security unit

December 14, 2016 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada
On December 13, 2016, Robert Brunet, an inmate from Joyceville Institution minimum unit died while in our custody.
Emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:51 p.m.
At the time of his death, Mr. Brunet, 71 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder since September 15, 2008.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
