Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution

December 1, 2016 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada
On November 30, 2016, Francis John McLaughlin, an inmate from Pacific Institution died while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. McLaughlin, 79 years old, had been serving a life sentence for second degree murder since October 23, 1978.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
