Death of an inmate at Dorchester Penitentiary – Medium security unit

January 13, 2017 – Dorchester, New Brunswick – Correctional Service Canada
On January 12, 2017, Gregory Stephen, an inmate from Dorchester Penitentiary – Medium security unit died while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. Gregory Stephen, 68 years old, had been serving a sentence of 9 years for Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x2), Robbery – Use of Firearm All Others and Theft Under, since December 16, 2013.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
