Death of an inmate at Joyceville Institution

April 28, 2017 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On April 27, 2017, Robert Heward, an inmate from Joyceville Institution died at an outside hospital in Kingston, Ontario.

At the time of his death, Mr. Heward, 58 years-old, had been serving a sentence of 4 years for Fraud under the Securities Act, Illegal Distribution contrary to the Securities Act and Unregistered Trading contrary to the Securities Act since February 22, 2017.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
