Escape from Mission Institution – Minimum security unit  

April 14, 2017 – Mission, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On April 14, 2017 during the 3:45 p.m. count in the minimum security unit at Mission Institution, staff members discovered that Robert Raymond Dezwaan was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Mission detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Robert Raymond Dezwaan is 53 years old, measures 6’1” in height and weighs 186 lbs. He has a fair complexion, green eyes and a bald head. He is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Robert Raymond Dezwaan is asked to contact police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has provided the RCMP all of the information available to help in the arrest of the inmate.
