Recapture of inmate from Mission Institution – Minimum security unit

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on April 15, 2017 inmate Robert Raymond Dezwaan was apprehended by the Agassiz Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). 

This inmate had been unlawfully at large from the minimum security unit at Mission Institution, since April 14, 2017.

CSC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
