Death of an inmate at Beaver Creek Institution

On June 22, 2017, Quoc-Coung Vuong, an inmate from Beaver Creek Institution died at an outside hospital in Barrie, Ontario.

At the time of his death, Mr. Vuong, 61 years old, had been serving a sentence of 8 years, 11 months and 23 days for Possession of a Scheduled I/II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking since January 8, 2015.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
