Death of an inmate at Warkworth Institution

On June 18, 2017, John Kehoe, an inmate from Warkworth Institution died while in our custody.
Emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:27 a.m.
At the time of his death, Mr. Kehoe, 69 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Murder, Attempted Murder, Assault and robbery since December 14, 1972.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
