Death of an inmate from the Federal Training Centre

On June 16, 2017, André Gaudette, an inmate from the Federal Training Centre, died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Gaudette, 71 years old, had been serving a life sentence for unqualified murder and prison breach since May 31, 1963.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
