Death of an Inmate at Beaver Creek Institution

August 9, 2017 – Gravenhurst, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada 

On August 9, 2017, Victor Wolynec, an inmate from Beaver Creek Institution died while in our custody. 

At the time of his death, Mr. Wolynec, 64 years old, had been serving a sentence of 9 years for two counts of theft with threats of violence since December 12, 2012. 

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death. 

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
