Minor disturbance at Atlantic Institution

On December 20, 2017, an inmate disturbance was reported at Atlantic Institution, a maximum-security federal institution.

Inmates within one unit had refused to return to their cells. No injuries to staff or inmates have been reported. Measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of staff, inmates and the institution.

A modified routine is in place, normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so. Visitors who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the institution directly.
