Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution

On January 18, 2018, Serge Payeur an inmate from Pacific Institution died while in our custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Payeur, 62 years old, had been serving a sentence of 49 years, 11 months and 4 days for Armed Robbery and offences involving violence and firearms since November 11, 1975.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
