Escape from Dorchester Penitentiary – Minimum security unit

February 8, 2018 – Dorchester, New Brunswick – Correctional Service Canada

On February 7, 2018 during the 10:00 p.m. count, staff members at Dorchester Penitentiary, a multi-level security federal institution, discovered that Steven Bugden was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Steven Bugden is 45 years old, measures 165 cm (5’4”) in height and weighs 85 kg (188 lbs). He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and blond hair. He is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder. 

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Steven Bugden is asked to contact police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
