Recapture of Inmate from Dorchester Penitentiary – Minimum-security unit

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on February 8, 2018 inmate Steven Bugden was apprehended by the Sackville detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

This inmate had been unlawfully at large from the minimum-security unit at Dorchester Penitentiary since February 7, 2018.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
