Death of an inmate at Warkworth Institution

March 13, 2018 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On March 12, 2018, Muri Chilton, an inmate from Warkworth Institution died while in our custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Chilton, 66 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Attempted Murder and Second Degree Murder since November 23, 1977.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
