Death of an inmate from Kent Institution

News release

On April 26, 2018, Eric Shawn Carty, an inmate from Kent Institution died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Carty, 38 years old, had been serving a life sentence for first degree murder and conspire to commit murder since January 23, 2014.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and has contacted the police and the coroner.
