Death of an inmate from Mission Institution

On June 22, 2018, Ralph Whitfield MORRIS, an inmate from Mission Institution died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. MORRIS, 83 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Armed Robbery, Second Degree Murder, Escape Lawful Custody (x3), and Utter Threats to Cause Death/Harm since August 20, 1975.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
