Death of an inmate from Stony Mountain Institution

On August 18, 2018, Adam Kent Monias, an inmate from Stony Mountain Institution died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Monias, 25 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Utter Threats to Cause Death/Harm since June 3, 2015.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
