Escape from Mission Institution – Minimum security unit

August 8, 2018 – Mission, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On August 7, 2018 during the 10:15 p.m. count in the minimum security unit at Mission Institution, staff members discovered that John Norman Mackenzie was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Mission Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

John Norman Mackenzie is 57 years old, measures 5’8” in height and weighs 197 lbs. He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He is currently serving a Life sentence for Second Degree Murder and Armed Robbery and other offences.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of John Norman Mackenzie is asked to contact police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
