Death of an inmate at Pacific Institution

September 4, 2018 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On September 1, 2018, Colin Victor Stewart, an inmate from Pacific Institution died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Stewart, 36 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for first degree murder since May 9, 2016.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances. The police and the coroner have been contacted.
