Death of an inmate from Warkworth Institution

On September 1, 2018, John Manuel Santos, an inmate from Warkworth Institution died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of his death, Mr. Santos, 61 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Robbery, Sexual Assault and Utter Threat to Cause Death/Harm since September 2, 1994.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
