Death of an inmate from Springhill Institution

February 1^st, 2019 – Springhill, Nova Scotia – Correctional Service Canada

On January 30^th, 2019, an inmate from Springhill Institution died while in our custody. At this time, foul play is not suspected.

The name of the inmate will not be released at this time as the next of kin have yet to be notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the medical examiner’s office be notified.
