Death of an inmate from Warkworth Institution

On August 16, 2019, Bernard King, an inmate from Warkworth Institution died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of his death, Mr. King, 66 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for Sexual Assault, Utter Threat to Cause Death/Harm and Robbery, since December 12, 2001.  

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
