Death of an inmate from Warkworth Institution
News release
On November 23, 2019, Joseph Archibald, an inmate from Warkworth Institution died while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. Archibald, 43 years old, had been serving a sentence of 12 years, four months and nine days for Breaking and Entering with Intent, Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Failure to Comply with Condition of Undertaking or Recognizance since June 18, 2010.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
