Death of an inmate from Bath Institution

April 11, 2020 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada
On April 10, 2020, Joseph Meagher, an inmate from Bath Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.
At the time of his death, Mr. Meagher, 62-years old, had been serving a sentence of 5 years, 2 months and 6 days since August 10, 2016, for Sexual Interference, Sexual Assault and Possession of Child Pornography.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
