Death of an inmate from Mission Institution

On August 9, 2020, Gilles Morin, an inmate from Mission Institution died in outside hospital of apparent natural causes following an illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Morin had been serving a sentence of 12 years, 7 months and 27 days for Kidnap – Unlawfully Confinement, Forcible Confinement, Extortion, Sex Assault with Weapon, and other offences since March 15, 2010.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and contact the police and the coroner if required.
