Death of an inmate from Millhaven Institution – Regional Treatment Centre

On May 31, 2021, Christopher McLaughlin, an inmate from Millhaven Institution’s Regional Treatment Centre, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

At the time of their death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of six years for failure to comply with prohibition order and sexual assault, which commenced on October 29, 2015.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.  

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
