Death of an inmate from Pacific Institution

November 3, 2021 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada
On October 31, 2021, William James Riddle, an inmate from Pacific Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.
At the time of death, the inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence for non-capital murder, rape, and attempted rape since November 18, 1977.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
