Death of an inmate from Millhaven Institution - Regional Treatment Centre

On December 17, 2021, Stephane Bissonnette, an inmate from Millhaven Institution’s Regional Treatment Centre, died while in our custody.        

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a 12 year sentence, which commenced on April 23, 2012, for robbery, break and enter, mischief, theft of motor vehicle, escape lawful custody, utter threat, and assault causing bodily harm. 

The inmate’s next of kin has been notified.  

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances.  CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
