Death of an inmate from Pacific Institution

December 29, 2023 – Abbotsford, British Columbia – Correctional Service Canada

On December 28, 2023, Mike Andrew Arcand, an inmate from Pacific Institution, died while in our custody.

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of 6 years for discharging a firearm with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose since May 24, 2019.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
