Escape and recapture of an inmate from Dorchester Penitentiary minimum security unit

April 13, 2024 – Dorchester, New Brunswick – Correctional Service Canada

On April 13, 2024, at 20:35 p.m., staff members at the minimum-security unit at Dorchester Penitentiary discovered that Jermaine Browne was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and a warrant for the inmate’s arrest was issued.

At 22:00 p.m., the inmate was apprehended by police. CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident.
