Death of an inmate from Grand Valley Institution

August 1, 2024 – Kitchener, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On July 31, 2024, Wanetta Generoux, an inmate from Grand Valley Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of 4 years, 7 months, 2 days, for Robbery since November 15, 2023.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
