Death of an inmate from Regional Treatment Centre - Millhaven Institution

On August 10, 2024, an inmate from Millhaven’s Regional Treatment Centre, died while in our custody. The individual’s name has been anonymized to comply with a court-ordered publication ban.
At the time of death, the inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence, which commenced March 18, 2005, for sexual assault, sexual interference of persons under the age of 14, assault with a weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
