Democratic Institutions Minister Karina Gould meets with ministerial counterparts from Quebec, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and the Northwest Territories

Ottawa, November 3, 2017 – Building on her efforts to engage with provincial and territorial counterparts to strengthen our democratic institutions, today the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of Democratic Institutions, met with Minister Kathleen Weil, Minister Responsible for Access to Information and the Reform of Democratic Institutions (Quebec), Minister Yasir Naqvi, Attorney General (Ontario), Minister Richard Brown, Government House Leader (Prince Edward Island) and Minister Louis Sebert, Minister of Justice (Northwest Territories).
The Ministers were joined by Communications Security Establishment Chief Greta Bossenmaier, who delivered a presentation on protecting the democratic process from cyber threats.
The Ministers also discussed the importance of civic engagement and efforts to improve accessibility and participation in our democratic process.
Lastly, the Ministers committed to continuing a collaborative discussion on ways to strengthen and safeguard our democracy at the provincial, territorial and federal levels.
