Making fundraising more open and transparent 

An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act (political financing) took effect in December 2018. This legislation created new notice and reporting requirements for specific fundraising events attended by federal Cabinet ministers, party leaders, and leadership contestants, and when a ticket costs more than $200 per person. It also harmonized the rules for the expenses of nomination/leadership contestants with those already in place for candidates.
