Government of Canada announces judicial appointments in the province of Manitoba

October 20, 2016 – Ottawa, Ontario – Department of Justice Canada

The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

Lore M. Mirwaldt, Q.C., a partner with Mirwaldt & Gray in Winnipeg, is appointed a judge of Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench for Manitoba (Family Division) in Winnipeg to replace Mr. Justice F. Aquila, who elected supernumerary status effective January 1, 2016.

David J. Kroft, a lawyer with Fillmore Riley LLP in Winnipeg, is appointed a judge of Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench in Winnipeg to replace Madam Justice J.A. Pfuetzner, who was elevated to the Court of Appeal on June 19, 2015.

Candace Grammond, a partner with Pitblado LLP in Winnipeg, is appointed a judge of Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench in Winnipeg to replace Mr. Justice C.M. Sinclair, who resigned effective April 2, 2016.

These appointments are effective immediately.
